Sea and Beaches
The sea, with its blend of colours that range from emerald green to deep blue, is crystal clear and clean which is why, along with the high quality standard of services provided along the more than 90 uninterrupted stretch of coastline, it has earned a coveted EU Blue Flag of recognition. Whilst the sand on the beaches at San Vincenzo and Baratti is pale and at Marina di Castagneto, Bibbona and Cecina it is a little darker, there are also cliffs shaped by the wind that plunge down to the sea where fish thrive and abound.
Archaeology
There are Etruscan coastal settlements such as the Archaeological Park at Baratti-Populonia, museums like the ones at Rosignano Marittimo, Cecina and Piombino brimming with Etruscan, Roman and Villanovan remains and archaeological sites complete with exhibitions and displays that have earned international acclaim. All bear witness to the historic significance of the Etruscan Coast. The San Silvestro Archaeo- Mineralogical Park at Venturina is an open-air museum where specially laid out routes reveal the various mining phases that stretched from the Etruscan era through to the Middle Ages.
Medieval Villages
Perched on hilltops overlooking the sea, or set amidst the countryside, the medieval villages of the Etruscan Coast boast centuries of historic and cultural traditions. In places like Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri, Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Bibbona, Sassetta, Rosignano M.mo, Populonia and Piombino evidence of their rich cultural history is perfectly preserved, revealing their rich cultural history.
Thermal Spas and Well-being Centres
The Etruscan Coast’s thermal spas offer a double opportunity - the chance to embark on a health treatment whilst enjoying a holiday all about well-being and relaxation. The Valle del Sole thermal Spa in Venturina is just one of them, known for its sulphur- calcium -magnesium and bicarbonate rich waters, Calidario another.
