Medieval Villages

At about 12 km you can visit another flagship of our area, Suvereto.

Medieval village, very famous for the production of excellent wines.

There are various stages that are worth a stop, such as the cloister of San Francesco and the countless churches of the medieval period.

Continuing on the coast road we can reach the town of Piombino with a beautiful old town, full of restaurants and pizzerias. The quaint little port and Piazza Bovio, a square that seems to penetrate the sea to get closer to the Island of Elba, is worth a visit, and on a clear day it almost feels like you can touch it.

Ferries to Elba, Corsica and Sardinia leave from the port of Piombino.

More distant other steps not to be missed are the town of Castagneto Carducci, birthplace of the great poet Giosuè Carducci and the nearby village of Bolgheri with its famous avenue of cypresses, a marvel of the area, praised by Carducci’s famous poem “Davanti San Guido“.

This area is very famous for wine production, here the best Tuscan wines are born such as Sassicaia, Masseto, Ornellaia, Tignanello etc.

Another nearby village is the town of Bibbona, a small medieval town that is worth seeing and stopping to drink a good beer recommended by the very valid Felix “brewer” at his “Brandybirra” brewery which will advise you and combine an excellent beer with a tasty dish.
